Energy Systems Catapult makes case for UK new build

The UK's Nuclear Industry Association and project developer Horizon Nuclear Power have welcomed a technical and economic assessment that delivering a clean energy system ought to include a significant proportion of new nuclear capacity. The analysis by Energy Systems Catapult says committing to a further 10 gigawatts of new nuclear capacity beyond EDF Energy/CGN's Hinkley Point C project is a "low-regrets option", but that costs needed to fall significantly if the technology was to fulfil its long-term potential.
