Ukranian nuclear units temporarily offline as pandemic hits energy demand

Ukraine’s sate-run nuclear operator Energoatom will temporarily withdraw from service three of its 15 commercial nuclear power units because of government forecasts of reduced electricity demand during the coronavirus pandemic.

The projected balance of electricity production by the country’s nuclear fleet has decreased by 8.6% to 73.7 TWh, the company said on 30 April.
